Dr. Joseph Tamburrino was born and raised in Philadelphia.  He is one of the few surgeons in South Jersey to be double board certified. He has certifications from the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. Dr. Tamburrino draws upon this impressive background to deliver the superb results is known for.

He received his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Temple University and a Master of Science in Biochemistry at Thomas Jefferson University.  His research focus while obtaining his Master’s degree was the regulation of oncogenes, particularly BRCA1 and BCL2.  Dr. Tamburrino continued his studies at Thomas Jefferson University’s Jefferson Medical College, where he earned a Doctor of Medicine.  He completed his residency training in general surgery at Temple University Hospital.   He then traveled the country obtaining training in plastic surgery from some of the most prominent institutions.  He completed his plastic surgery residency at Cleveland Clinic Florida.  Thereafter, Dr. Tamburrino underwent fellowship training in Reconstructive Microsurgery at UCLA-University of California Los Angeles.

In 2011, Dr. Tamburrino was recruited from UCLA by Cooper University Hospital to begin an autologous tissue breast reconstruction program.  At that time he was the first plastic surgeon in South New Jersey to offer the DIEP flap procedure for breast reconstruction.  After spending three years at Cooper University Hospital, Dr. Tamburrino decided to pursue advanced training in cosmetic plastic surgery.  He was then selected to complete an Aesthetic Surgery Fellowship at the world renowned Lenox Hill and Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospitals in New York City.  There he was able to learn advanced facelift and rhinoplasty techniques from some of the most prominent surgeons in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Tamburrino is double board certified in plastic surgery and general surgery.  His clinical interest’s in Aesthetic Surgery include: Facelifts including the SMAS flap and deep plane techniques, Neck lift, endoscopic brow lift, blepharoplasty (eye lids), rhinoplasty (nose), breast augmentation, scar-less endoscopic trans-axillary breast augmentation, breast lifts and reductions, abdominoplasty, body contouring, liposuction, and laser skin resurfacing.  His clinical interest in reconstructive surgery include microvascular breast reconstruction with DIEP, SIEA, SGAP, PAP, and TUG perforator flaps. He still offers the traditional procedures including TRAM flaps, muscle sparing TRAM flap, and Latissimus flaps.  He is also proud to offer single stage, direct to implant breast reconstruction, with form stable anatomic implants.
